About this work
Lid of a baluster-shaped lidded jar of porcelain, painted in underglaze blue and overglaze red, black and gold. Decorated with three large cartouches with a shishi between a blooming peony plant; the cartouches are separated by bands of scrollwork containing a lobed cartouche. On the rim a band with lotus scrolls. Lid knob in the form of a shishi on a rock. The tail is broken off. Part of a cabinet set. Imari.
