About this work
Teapot of porcelain with a ribbed, bulbous body and S-shaped spout, painted in underglaze blue. The wall is divided into compartments with alternating a flowering plant (chrysanthemum, peony) and a person sitting on an enclosed terrace; the shoulder with a band of lacework alternating with a flower in a cartouche; the lid with a band of lacework alternating with a flower in a cartouche. Provided with a 19th-century silver mounting and handle by Arnoldi & Wielick, Amsterdam 1850. Kraak porcelain.
