About this work

Bowl of porcelain, covered with a transparent glaze. The wall is partially openwork in floral scrolls, interrupted by scalloped cartouches containing a medallion with modeled flower branches, stags, and birds. The underside of the wall features stylized ruyi motifs in low relief. On the rim a band with floral scrolls in relief. Thick foot ring; the rim is underglazed. Marked on the underside with the four-character mark of Emperor Chenghua. A crack in the rim; a part missing from the openwork. White porcelain.
