About this work

Egg-shaped lidded pot of porcelain on a high foot with ring-shaped thickening, painted in underglaze blue. On the wall six modeled compartments with in each a woman (long dress) or a flower vase (lotus, chrysanthemum); below six smaller modeled compartments with flower and fruit branches; the foot with a flower and fruit branch; on the neck a band with meander motif where above pointed leaves; the lid with treasures (diamond, pearl, artemisia leaf) between which three Chinese characters 'zhou', meaning prosperity. Blue and white.
