About this work
Square bowl of porcelain with flat corners and a scalloped rim, painted in underglaze blue. On the outside of the bowl four compartments each with a woman (lady) in a landscape, the flattened corners with lacework above a ruyi motif; on the bottom three playing boys (clowns) in a landscape. Marked on the underside with the six-character mark of Emperor Chenghua in a double circle. Blue and white.
