About this work

Egg-shaped pot with lid of porcelain, painted in underglaze blue and on the glaze in blue, red, green, yellow and black with leaf-shaped and square cartouches with landscapes, flowers and birds against a background of stylized peony roses on a green plane with black dots. In the cartouches mountain landscapes with persons, ships and pavilions; birds on rocks and flower branches of e.g. prunus and bamboo. Around the foot a decorative band of geometric motifs and valuables in cartouches; around the shoulder a decorative rim with geometric motifs and flowers in cartouches. On the lid a landscape with a bird and a shishi (lion dog), with around this a decorative band with geometric motifs and flowers in cartouches. On the underside two double circles. Two cracks in the lid. Famille verte.
