About this work

Porcelain ewer with a globular body, C-shaped handle, and small triangular spout on the rim. Painted in underglaze blue. On the belly a continuous scene with people in a landscape with rocks, trees, plants, a flying bird, and houses. One person holds a flag. On the shoulder a band with scrolling vines. The shoulder features two tulip motifs. The handle is decorated with vines. Around the rim a later-added silver mount with lid, date letter Z (1859). Arita, blue and white.
