About this work

Porcelain plate, painted in underglaze blue. On the flat center a heron on a rock and one flying bird among flowering plants (aster, pomegranate). The inner wall is divided into six compartments alternating a pomegranate branch and a fern; the compartments are separated by a flowering vine. The outer wall features a continuous vine. Three feet on the underside. The scene is in imitation of Chinese Kraak porcelain. Arita, blue and white.
