About this work

Porcelain plate with a lobed rim, painted in underglaze blue and overglaze blue, red, green, turquoise, black, and gold. On the flat center a medallion with three stylized flowering branches; around the medallion, a band of lacework alternating with a vine. The wall and rim feature lacework on an underglaze blue background. Recessed within this are alternating three large cartouches with a flying heron above flowering plants and three lobed cartouches with flowering plants. The outer wall features four times precious objects (musical stone, artemisia leaf). Three feet on the underside. Imari.
