About this work
Jupiter, with eagle and thunderbolt, drew a wide veil of mist over the land and violated Io. To the left in the background, Io is seen transformed into a cow by Jupiter, fearing his wife would discover his infidelity. Juno approaches the couple with a weapon drawn, pulled by peacocks. Jupiter can ultimately do nothing but give his wife Io as a gift. Below the image, two pairs of Latin verses. The print is part of an album.
