About this work
Cadmus wondered where his companions were after he had asked them to fetch sacrificial water in a nearby forest. He went to look for the men dressed in a stripped lion skin and armed with a spear. At the spring where they filled their urns, Cadmus found the men dead. He kills the dragon that has swallowed them by stabbing his spear into its throat. Below the representation, two times two lines of verse in Latin. The print is part of an album.
