About this work
William III the Good, Count of Holland and Hainaut, condemns his bailiff from his sickbed and orders him to be beheaded. In the background, the cause is visible: the bailiff defrauded a farmer by selling him a poor cow for a good one. Below the image, two four-line verses in Latin. The print is part of an album.
