About this work

Alexander the Great took a bath in the river Cydnus to cool off from a fever, but became stiff and unconscious due to the cold water. On the left, Alexander is carried out of the water by one of his soldiers; on the right, other soldiers run to help. The soldier on the right in the foreground kneels with hands clasped. Numbered 22 in the upper right. Drawing forms part of an album.
