About this work

Allegorical title print for the second part of Guerres de Flandres. The field marshal Alexander Farnese, Duke of Parma, carried on a shield, receives a sword and hat from a personification of the papacy or Catholic Church. In the foreground, the defeated enemy and raging furies with snake hair, referring to rebellion and discord. In the clouds, the coat of arms of Farnese.
