About this work

Amazon costume. According to the accompanying text, the woman wears a rich costume or amazon costume. It consists of a jacket with three shoulder collars, a vest and a skirt of apple-green silk. Tied neckerchief. Stockings. Accessories: hat of yellow wool felt adorned with feathers, gloves, whip, heeled shoes with bows. The print is part of the 21st Cahier from the series Cabinet des Modes ou les Modes Nouvelles. The series consists of 72 fashion prints, published by Buisson, Paris, 15 November 1785 – 1 November 1786.
