About this work
A soldier, full-length, carrying a spear (lance) with both hands at his right side, the point angled upwards (no. 15), ca. 1600. This is the first movement for placing the spear on the ground. Plate 15 in the instructions for handling the spear: Corte onderwysinghe op de figuerliicke afbeeldinghe, belanghende t'recht ghebruyck, van al t'ghene een Soldaet int handelen vande Spies noodich is.
