About this work

A soldier, full-length, facing right, carrying a spear (lance) horizontally on his right shoulder. His right hand around the spear (no. 26), ca. 1600. Originally incorrectly numbered 24, this number corrected here to 26. Plate 26 in the instructions for handling the spear: Corte onderwysinghe op de figuerliicke afbeeldinghe, belanghende t'recht ghebruyck, van al t'ghene een Soldaet int handelen vande Spies noodich is. Part of the illustrations in: J. de Gheyn, Wapenhandelinghe van Roers Musquetten ende spiessen, 's-Gravenhage, 1607. Military affairs around 1600.
