About this work
A soldier, full-length, holding a spear (lance) vertically with both hands slightly above the ground (no. 16), ca. 1600. This is the second movement for placing the spear on the ground. Plate 16 in the instructions for handling the spear: Corte onderwysinghe op de figuerliicke afbeeldinghe, belanghende t'recht ghebruyck, van al t'ghene een Soldaet int handelen vande Spies noodich is.
