About this work
A soldier, full-length, seen from the back, holding a spear (lance) vertically with his right hand (no. 7), ca. 1600. This is the third movement for lowering the spear upright to the ground. Plate 7 in the instructions for handling the spear: Corte onderwysinghe op de figuerliicke afbeeldinghe, belanghende t'recht ghebruyck, van al t'ghene een Soldaet int handelen vande Spies noodich is.
