About this work
A soldier, full-length, facing right, holding a spear (lance) vertically with both hands slightly above the ground (no. 6), ca. 1600. This is the second movement for lowering the spear upright to the ground. Plate 6 in the instructions for handling the spear: Corte onderwysinghe op de figuerliicke afbeeldinghe, belanghende t'recht ghebruyck, van al t'ghene een Soldaet int handelen vande Spies noodich is.
