About this work
A soldier, full-length, facing right, holding a musket (a specific type of firearm) in his left hand (no. 13), ca. 1600. With his right hand he is loosening the burning match that lies on the cock of his musket. Plate 13 from the instructions for handling the musket: Corte onderwysinghe op de figuerliicke afbeeldinghe, belanghende t'rechte ghebruyck des Roers.
