About this work
A soldier, full-length, facing right, holding a musket (a specific type of firearm) with his left hand (no. 6), ca. 1600. In his left hand, besides the musket, a fork (musket fork) and a burning match. With his right hand he takes hold of this match. Plate 6 in the instructions for handling the musket: Corte onderrechtinghe op de figuerliicke afbeeldinghe, soo veel aengaet het recht ghebruyck vant Musquet.
