About this work
A soldier, full-length, facing right, holding a musket (a specific type of firearm) with his left hand near his left thigh and with his right hand pulling the ramrod out of the barrel (no. 28), ca. 1600. In his left hand, besides the musket, a fork (musket fork). Plate 28 in the instructions for handling the musket: Corte onderrechtinghe op de figuerliicke afbeeldinghe, soo veel aengaet het recht ghebruyck vant Musquet. Part of the illustrations in: J. de Gheyn, Wapenhandelinghe van Roers Musquetten ende spiessen, 's-Gravenhage, 1607. Military affairs around 1600.
