About this work

A soldier, full-length, facing right, placing a musket (a specific type of firearm) with his right hand on his left shoulder, the barrel pointing diagonally upwards. In his left hand a burning match and a fork (musket fork) (no. 33), ca. 1600. Plate 33 in the instructions for handling the musket: Corte onderrechtinghe op de figuerliicke afbeeldinghe, soo veel aengaet het recht ghebruyck vant Musquet. Part of the illustrations in: J. de Gheyn, Wapenhandelinghe van Roers Musquetten ende spiessen, 's-Gravenhage, 1607. Military affairs around 1600.
