About this work
A soldier, full-length, facing right, holding a musket (a certain type of firearm) with his left hand (no. 9), ca. 1600. He brings the musket to his mouth to blow the match, covering the pan with two fingers to prevent sparks. Plate 9 in the instructions for handling the musket.
