A soldier on guard, full-length, facing right, holding a musket (a specific type of firearm) with his left hand at his right side, the barrel pointing diagonally upwards (no. 37), ca. 1600. In his left hand, besides the musket, a burning match. He is extending his right hand. Plate 37 from the instructions for handling the musket: Corte onderwysinghe op de figuerliicke afbeeldinghe, belanghende t'rechte ghebruyck des Roers.
