About this work
A soldier, full-length, facing right, holding a musket (a specific type of firearm) with his left hand (no. 14), ca. 1600. The lit match in his right hand he transfers to his left hand. Plate 14 in the instructions for handling the musket: Brief enseignement, sur la representation des figures, du droit maniement de l'Harquebuse.
