A soldier on guard, full-length, facing right, holding a matchlock (a specific type of firearm) with both hands at his right side, his right index finger on the trigger, the barrel pointing diagonally upwards (no. 36), ca. 1600. In his left hand, besides the barrel of the matchlock, he holds a lit match.
