About this work
A soldier, full-length, pouring powder from a powder flask into the pan (the powder reservoir) of a musket (a specific type of firearm) (no. 17), ca. 1600. In his left hand, besides the musket, he holds a fork and a lit match. Plate 17 in the instructions for handling the musket: Brief enseignement, sur les pourtraitz figurez, touchant le droit maniement du Mousquet.
