Submission of Naples to Charles III, 1707

The inhabitants of the city of Naples hand over the keys of the city to General Von Daun, who captures the city on behalf of King Charles III, 6 July 1707. The central depiction of the handover of the keys in a very richly decorated ornamental frame with a cartouche at the top containing the description of the events in German. At the bottom an allegorical depiction in which a kneeling figure hands over the branch of peace to King Charles III (Archduke Charles of Austria), who stands on the clouds with his triumphal chariot and accompanied by Hercules.
