About this work
Satirical print depicting the Batavian Republic as a seven-headed monster attempting to give birth to a constitution. A French doctor stands ready to hasten the delivery with tongs, as does a little devil who pricks the "woman" between her legs with a trident. On the left, a doctor with a book performs a cesarean section.
