Strip of bobbin lace with a flower branch full of rosettes

Strip of natural-colored bobbin lace: Mechelen lace. The repeating and continuous pattern consists of a narrow horn-shaped reserve and a rocaille-shaped reserve lying along the lower edge from which a flower branch springs full of short side branches with rosette flowers, like a forget-me-not. Along the upper edge, with a fold continuing along one short side, a narrower strip is sewn with a pattern of various rocaille-shaped reserves and some flowers and leaves. The motifs in both strips are connected by a fine mesh ground, the Mechelen ground. The motifs are made in linen stitch with few cutouts, and is provided with very thick contour threads. Various decorative grounds, with coarser meshes, are applied in the reserves and between the rosette flowers. The slightly scalloped lower sides of both strips are finished with picots. The sewn-together sides are finished straight.
