Inkstand, with painted medallions and draperies in relief

Porcelain inkstand. The wall is decorated with rose-painted draperies in relief, from which in the middle of the front and sides hangs a medallion with a laurelled head in relief. The rim of the medallions in the form of a leaf wreath is painted green, the head is cut out in a brown ground. At the back this medallion serves as the attachment for the handle, decorated in beet-red and gold. In the closed rear part of the inkstand are holes for an inkwell and a sand shaker (both present) and four holes for pens. The candleholder is decorated in relief with leaves and a pearl border, both partially painted in beet-red. Along the rim of the inkstand is a green-painted leaf wreath in relief. Gilded edges along the various rims, also around the pen holes.
