Mortar with masks, scrolling foliage, and pearl strings

The cast round mortar has a foot, which is narrowed at the top, and a round overhanging rim, which is decorated with a frieze of acanthus leaves alternating with stemmed trefoils. The somewhat goblet-shaped wall, which is closed at the top and bottom by a profiled rib, has at the top a decoration of eighteen six-petaled rosettes, of which nine alternatingly are connected by scrolling pearl borders. Below that the motif is repeated three times of a mask, which is connected to two symmetrical volutes ending in stylized flowers. On the transition to the narrowed foot twelve six-petaled rosettes.
