About this work

Writing cabinet with mirror, lined with burr walnut on an oak core. The front of the lower cabinet, with three large and two small drawers, is shaped with an acanthus curve; above it, the slanted writing surface. The upper cabinet has a door with a mirror and a shaped frame at the top; below it, a pull-out leaf. The shaped cornice on the sides consists of two inward-turning C-scrolls, with a cartouche and shell as the central piece, and scrolls at the corners. (Gilt) copper handles and fittings.
