About this work

Strip of natural-coloured needle lace: Alençon lace. Scatter motif with under the top row of picots three rows of small branches with oval leaves, on a fine hexagonal mesh ground. At the lower side of the strip a repeating motif of poppy heads, narrow leaves and fantasy shapes filled with ornamental grounds. The lower side is finished with a slightly wavy border with razor-fine picots. The upper side is edged with a border of bobbin lace.
