Linen damask napkin with scenes from the history of Pyramus and Thisbe. Central field: the symmetrically doubled pattern shows three scenes: 1 Thisbe throws herself on Pyramus's sword, who lies on the ground. 2 Meeting of Pyramus and Thisbe at the hole in the wall. Against a background of Renaissance houses, a stone wall is visible, on either side of which stand the two lovers; she in a suspended overskirt, Sévigné hairstyle with hanging veil, and half-sleeves; he in a rhingrave and low long wig. 3 A lion soils Thisbe's veil, which she lost, with its bloody mouth. In the center the fountain from which Thisbe fled. Standing and lying borders: fruit basket with symmetrically upright stem, including among others: carnation, tulip, narcissus, and pomegranate.
