About this work
Linen damask napkin with a pattern of acanthus scrolls. The central field shows a symmetrical pattern with leaf and flower vines, extending downwards and upwards into a composite flower. The central axis is indicated by varied leaf palmettes. The richly branched leaf vines with numerous tendrils form large scrolls, ending in a great variety of flowers. The border, with a narrow inner hem with running S-scroll vines, shows a single running vine with gridded leaves and various flowers. In the corners, a rosette. With block borders.
