About this work

Chest front of pine wood veneered with walnut, consisting of one large elongated panel flanked by two small projecting panels. The central panel depicts in high relief a cavalry battle at the foot of a fortress; the two small panels a rearing horse. The panels are enclosed by a hollow profiled frame with an egg-and-dart motif; around this an incised acanthus leaf decoration.
