Part of a cap or a collar of black bobbin lace

Part of a cap or collar of black bobbin lace: old Flemish lace. The cap or collar is faintly heart-shaped, with a blunt bottom edge with a cut-out (for the neck?). Along the cut-out runs a strip of lace, with on one side a binding along which a pleated piece of lace is sewn. This lace consists of parts sewn together, varying in bobbin technique and pattern. The lace is sewn onto a dark linen backing fabric, with the exception of the light-colored center piece against which the pattern stands out more clearly. The patterns are not clearly visible, among other things due to the pleats. Distinguishable are vines with different flower shapes, including palmette flowers, flowers in the shape of a bunch of grapes and simple flowers with a round flower heart and three round petals. The motifs are connected by lattice grounds, including Dieppe grounds (ground with twisted eyelet holes). The motifs are made in linen stitch with openwork edges.
