Jabot with double layer of bobbin lace gathered around a narrow strip of machine-made tulle

Jabot of natural-coloured bobbin lace: Mechelen lace. A double layer of lace is gathered and sewn onto a narrow middle strip of machine-made tulle. The seam is finished with ruffles. Lace: the repeating pattern consists along the outer edge of a more or less oval field from which a whimsically shaped branch springs with a curling branch at the top and a long side branch curving downwards. Above the border pattern a scatter pattern of loose flowers and branches. The straight outer edge is finished with picots. The motifs are made in linen stitch and are accentuated by a thick shiny contour thread. The motifs are connected to each other by a Mechelen ground. At the top of the jabot one metal snap button is attached.
