Strip of Needle Lace with Slanted Vases

Strip of natural-coloured needle lace - reticella - with at the underside a strip of bobbin lace with pointed scallops. Needle lace: the repeating pattern consists of squares in which a tilted vase, alternately to the left and to the right is tilted. The vase is connected with small dogs and bows on the sides of the square and on the top and bottom by a frame of filled squares. The motifs are made with festoon stitches, decorated with cutouts and with closed picots. The motifs are connected to each other by wrapped spindles and spindles with festoon stitches. The horizontally running lines are made with a shoelace. Along the underside of the reticella strip a scalloped edge is sewn of bobbin lace with a pattern of rectangles and diamonds with underneath elongated triangular scallops finished with open picots.
