About this work
Strip of natural-colored needle lace: flat Venetian lace. Pattern of exotic flowers and curling leaves on widely undulating and curling vines. The motifs are made with buttonhole stitches and most (flower) leaves are entirely or partially made with decorative stitches. A light relief has been applied to emphasize the contours. The motifs are connected to each other by an irregular open bar ground with picots. The upper side of the strip is finished with a bobbin lace band. The straight lower side of the strip is finished with a simple arched border.
