Strip of Bobbin Lace with a Wavy Band of Lanceolate Leaves and Various Different Flowers

Strip of natural-coloured Brussels bobbin lace. The pattern consists of a wavy band of elongated leaves and all kinds of different flowers. In the wave valleys always stand one or several flowers with large leaves, among others two rosette flowers between a lobed heart-shaped leaf, a rosette flower with a pear-shaped leaf and a flower with six pointed petals. The motifs are largely made in linen stitch with openwork borders, few cutouts and provided with buttonhole relief contours. Here and there a net stitch filling is used. The motifs are connected to each other at the top of the strip by a fine trellis ground, a drochet ground. Under the wave, an irregular and open plait ground with picots connects the motifs to each other. Various decorative grounds are applied, predominantly in the elongated leaves, including fine snowflake grounds and decorative grounds with a diamond pattern. The upper side is finished straight.
