Strip of bobbin lace with a flower surrounded by leaves and a composite leaf-shaped motif

Strip of natural-colored bobbin lace: Mechelen lace. The repeating pattern consists of a flower largely surrounded by leaves alternating with a large leaf-shaped motif composed of a border of skewed squares and a one-sided lobed edge with a circle in each lobe. The motifs are connected by a fine mesh ground. The motifs are made in linen stitch with cutouts and mesh stitch, with thicker and shiny contour threads. A decorative ground is applied in and between various motifs, a snowflake ground. The very shallow scalloped underside is finished with picots. The top is finished straight. The strip consists of three pieces sewn together with coarse seams. With one short piece on the left, followed by two more or less equal pieces with an axis of symmetry in the middle.
