About this work

Strip of natural-coloured bobbin lace: Mechelen lace. The pattern consists of intersecting motifs in the form of larger and smaller leaves, leaf branches, curved lines and spaces filled with decorative grounds. The motifs are connected by a fine mesh ground. The motifs are made in linen stitch with thicker and shiny contour threads. The slightly scalloped lower edge results from the pattern and is finished with picots. The upper edge is finished straight. The short sides are finished with a hem.
