Strip of bobbin lace with an arch of branches from a triangular cartouche

Strip of natural-coloured bobbin lace: Mechelen lace. The pattern consists of an arch formed by two branches from a triangular cartouche along the upper edge of the strip. In the middle below the arch lies along the lower edge of the strip a pointed oval-shaped cartouche. This composition is alternated by a composite flower lying against the upper edge with below it a trapezium-shaped cartouche placed against the lower edge. The motifs are connected by a fine mesh ground. The motifs are made in linen stitch with thicker and shiny contour threads. Several different decorative grounds are applied in the cartouches and between the flower branches. Top and bottom edges are finished straight with picots along the lower edge. One short side is finished with a hem.
