Strip of bobbin lace with an arch of branches from a triangular cartouche

Strip of natural-colored bobbin lace: Mechlin lace. The pattern consists of an arch formed by two branches from a triangular cartouche along the upper side of the strip. In the middle below the arch lies along the lower side of the strip a pointed oval-shaped cartouche. This composition is alternated by a composite flower lying against the upper side with below it a trapezium-shaped cartouche placed against the lower side. The motifs are connected by a fine mesh ground. The motifs are made in linen stitch with thicker and shiny contour threads. Several different ornamental grounds have been applied in the cartouches and between the flower branches. Top and bottom are finished straight with picots along the lower side.
