About this work

Purse of coral-red velvet with embroidery of gold thread. Wrapped gold thread and cannetille-gold that lies flat and crimped, some paillettes. On two shield-shaped flaps with hard filling, a pattern of a high flower basket standing on a 'lambrequin' and framed by symmetric wavy vines. Two puffings of unadorned red velvet. Finished with gold braid and lined with bright green taffeta. Simple snap hook of base metal.
