About this work
Prayer rug of chintz with an image of a mihrab. From a scaly formation rises a cypress-shaped tree, within which a symmetrical flowering branch is populated with monkeys, parrots, and pheasants. Equal flowering branches populated with birds and squirrels surround the cypress. On either side of the tree stands a proud peacock with a snake in its beak. Below the peacocks is a pair of buffaloes with a calf. Oriental textile.
